Science Communication & Writing

I translate complex scientific research into clear, accurate, accessible content for non-expert audiences.

This includes writing for websites, blogs, science news outlets, patient organizations and nonprofits, clinical care centers, educational materials, research summaries, and clinic and patient-facing infographics.

Public Speaking

I speak at patient conferences, medical and scientific meetings and academic events.

Topics include: the science of hEDS, POTS, ME/CFS, and MCAS; the overlap between connective tissue and post-viral illness; patient advocacy and the research pipeline; and science communication as a tool for health equity.

Media & Appearances

I've been featured in CNN, Fox News, STAT, and other news outlets on EDS, chronic illness research, and the intersection of science and patient experience. I'm available for podcast appearances, media commentary, and expert contributions on complex chronic illness, disability in STEM, and science communication. I take engagements where I have something genuinely useful to contribute to the people in the room, and will defer to others in situations where I don't feel I'm the right voice.

Disability in STEM

I advise academic institutions, research programs, and organizations on building more inclusive environments for scientists and researchers with chronic illness and disability.

This includes reviewing policies, developing resources, speaking on panels, and helping organizations understand what disabled and chronically ill scientists actually need.

Advocacy & Strategy Consulting

I work with patient advocacy organizations, nonprofits, clinicians, and healthcare initiatives on the strategy side of chronic illness care and community.

This can look like helping build patient-centered programs and clinics, advising on community engagement and outreach, developing patient education infrastructure, or bridging the gap between the research community and the patients it's meant to serve.
